Casey's Tenor Madness
A downright party for all music lovers, because ‘Casey’ stands for Cees Schrama, bandleader and multi disciplined music veteran. In the sixties Schrama got involved as producer with the Phonogram and het Red Bullet record label. In that manor he played a roll in various recordings as session pianist and organ player with hits of The Golden Earring, Shocking Blue, Brainbox and many others.
Now with his new band ‘Casey’s Tenor Madness’ he makes straightforward accessible jazz standards, which speak to a broad audience and produce a sound of recognition. Cees Schrama on Hammond B3 is not enough he adds three top saxophone players: Alexander Beets, de men with the great tone, tasteful constructed solos. Then Boris van der Lek famed for his part in the Dutch Rock band Herman Broods’ Wild Romance. Then the best saxophone players of our country; Hans Dulfer. With his own sound, not just challenging his sax-partners but also the audience. The band is complemented with Lodewijk Bouwens on vibraphone, Eric Barkman on bass and Cyriel Directie on drums.
